Sette Giugno Commemorations at The Holroyd Centre
The Maltese Community Council of NSW invites everyone of Maltese descent or with an interest in Malta and its rich history to attend this special commemoration on Saturday 3 June.
The event will be held at The Holroyd Centre at 11 Miller St, Merrylands from 1.30pm.The day includes a commemorative speech about this historic event and musical segments by the Maltese Concert Band NSW and Natasha Tatarinoff.
Sette Giugno – ‘Seventh of June’ in Italian – is a Maltese national holiday that remembers events that occurred on that day in 1919. During protests and riots over increasing hardship and other political instability, British troops fired into the protesting Maltese, killing four: Lorenzo Dyer from Vittoriosa, Giuseppe Bajada from Gozo, Emmanuele Attard from Sliema and Carmelo Abela from Valletta.
